Ch. Muhammad Afzal Sahi, Speaker, assumed the chair and proceedings commenced with the recitation from the Holy Quran.
PRIVILEGE MOTIONS:-
Two Privilege Motions were taken up. Privilege Motion moved by Mrs. Noor-un-Nisa Malik was replied by Mr. Muhammad Basharat Raja, Minister for Law & Parliamentary Affairs and was disposed of. Other Privilege Motion moved by Mian Iftikhar Hussain Chhachhar regarding misconduct of SHO of Hujra Shah Moqeem was kept pending till 25-6-07.
ADJOURNMENT MOTIONS:-
Total 17 Adjournment Motions were taken up. Out of which Adjournment Motion moved by Mian Iftikhar Hussain Chhachhar was replied by Mian Imran Masood, Minister for Education and was disposed of. Adjournment Motion moved by Sheikh Alla-ud-Din was replied by Mr. Muhammad Basharat Raja, Minister for Law & Parliamentary Affairs and was disposed of. Another Adjournment Motion moved by Sheikh Alla-ud-Din Malik was kept pending till 26-6-07. Adjournment Motion moved by Ch Zahid Pervaiz regarding death of eight children by falling of a wall at Hafizabad was disposed of as the mover was not present. Two Adjournment Motions moved by Sh Ijaz Ahmad regarding discontinuing of crushing of sugarcane and less payment to the sugarcane growers and mismanagement in Irrigation Department, Vehari were kept pending till 27-6-07. Adjournment Motion moved by Syed Ihsan Ullah Waqas regarding incident of murder and dacoity at Kot lakpat was replied by Mr. Muhammad Basharat Raja, Minister for Law & Parliamentary Affairs and was disposed of.
Another Adjournment Motion moved by Syed Ihsan Ullah Waqas regarding death of a person was replied by Minister for Law & Parliamentary Affairs and was pended till 27-6-07. Adjournment Motion move by Rana Sanaullah Khan concerning negligence of WASA Faisalabad was kept pending till 27-06-07. Seven Adjournment Motions were disposed of as movers were absent. Adjournment Motion moved by Malik Muhammad Iqbal Channer regarding illegal possession of government property was kept pending till 27-6-07.
GOVERNMENT BUSINESS:-
DISCUSSION AND VOTING ON DEMANDS FOR GRANTS (2006-07):-
The finance Minister moved the demand for grant for education. 98 opposition members opposed it and moved the cut motion. Members from the opposition benches Mr Arshad Mehmood Baggu, Rana Sanaullah Khan, Syed Ihsan Ullah Waqas, Mr Qasim Zia, Mr Aftab Ahmad Khan, Mr Sami Ullah Khan, Syed Nazar Mehmood Shah, Sh Ijaz Ahmad delivered their speeches on the cut motion. However, the house rejected the cut motion and approved the grant.
The House passed 41 Demands for Grants included in the Punjab Annual Budget 2007-08.
Under Rule, 144 sub section (4) Mr. Speaker applied Guillotine in connection with the demand for grant.
The House was then adjourned till 3.00 p.m, on Monday, 25 June, 2007.
